High School level 10 - 12 - two-semester course
Pre-requisite: completion of Algebra 1
Cost of class: $500/semester.

Honors Chemistry: Lecture an lab (8:30-11:00 plus a 11:00-11:45 for Recitation
1st Semester dates EIE: Aug 27 (online only for all students this day only)
Sept 5, 12, 19, 26, Oct 3, 10, 17, 22, 29, Nov 5, 12, 19, Dec 3 & 10. No class on Thanksgiving Nov 26 or on Christmas break Dec 17, 24, 31.
2nd Sem dates EIE: Jan 7, 14, 21, 28, Feb 4, 18, 25, March 4, 11, 18, 25, April 15, 22, 29, May 6, 13, 20
No class on Feb 11 & April 1 & 8
Both classes will include such topics as:
Structure of the atom
- Elements of the periodic table
- Chemical bonding
- Molecular structure and reactivity
- Mole concepts and Stoichiometry
- Gases, solutions, and acids & bases
- Reaction rates and chemical equilibrium
- Redox reactions and electrochemistry
- Introduction to biochemistry and organic chemistry
There will be a significant emphasis on laboratory practice, with weekly labs and/or demonstrations, along with computation for quantitative analysis. Class at EIE will also have some practice questions for the SAT II chemistry subject test to discuss. Weekly homework assignments from the textbook, lab notebooks and handouts will be completed by the students at home each week. Tests will be sent home with the student to be administered by their parent and returned to class the following week.
