LIFE SCIENCE

Physical Science 8th-9th $400

This course may be for late Jr High or early High School (8th-9th) and is an introduction to chemistry and physics. It is highly recommended that students take this class prior to high school chemistry and physics. A basic understanding of algebra (how to solve for one unknown) is required. We will cover the scientific method, measurements, energy and motion, the nature of matter, atomic structure and the periodic table, elements and their properties, and interactions of matter like chemical reactions. Waves, light, and sound will be covered followed by electricity and magnetism. Each week will have a live lecture and hands-on lab. Textbook reading, homework questions, lab write-ups, and tests will be completed by the student at home. A science fair project will also be completed by each student during 2nd semester.
